Swim Meet 101
Swim Meets
- SAC has a Fall Fling in October and an Ice Melt in January. It is expected that all team members swim in these meets and parents volunteer with the meet.
- Other swim meets are out of town. We typically travel to Wichita, Hutchinson, and Topeka a few times during short course. During the Long Course, we also travel to Manhattan, McPherson, Topeka, and Wichita. The meet schedule is determined by the Board prior to the start of each season so that families can get these dates on their calendars. Salina meets are required but the other meets are a choice by your family.
- After logging into your account, you select meets, declare your intent to attend then choose the events you would like to swim. Coaches must approve all event entries so if you are unsure what you are ready for, please consult a coach.
- Meets are posted on our calendar. Once the meet information is posted, the files will be updated and you will declare your intent for the meet. Typically, you must sign up for a meet, at least one week prior however, this does vary.
Championships
- There are two levels of championships in Missouri Valley: District Championships and Championships.
- Both of these are meets that swimmers are required to have qualifying times for. District Championships are held first then swimmers hopefully move on to the Championship meet. Meets are held at the end of both short course and long course seasons.
- Time standards can be found: www.missourivalleyswimming.com
- Under Times, select Time Standards, and click on MV Short Course Yards Districts and Championships
- Look at SCY (short course yards) or LCM (long course meters) under Districts or Champs.
